Frontline Training courses
Frontline Video Training offers a variety of courses - each one specifically developed to support the increasing demands on journalists and media workers - both newcomers and those more established - to become multi-skilled and technically savvy in today's media industry.
- Shooting, Editing with Final Cut Pro, Blogging and beyond, Social media news tracking for journalists, Lighting for Video, and Solo Video Journalism - a comprehensive course, entirely unique to Frontline, that teaches the various elements and skills needed to work alone in the field (combining shooting, editing, writing for video and publishing video online).
Frontline trainers are drawn from within our membership - all professionals with huge experience in the field. This ensures that our courses are taught by individuals who understand all the elements of programme making, whether it be newsgathering, documentary or feature filmmaking.
Classes are open to everyone, with or without journalistic experience. Our courses run throughout the year, with foundation and intermediate levels available in shooting, editing and Solo Video Journalism. Held in our dedicated training room at the Frontline Club in central London, every course is restricted to a maximum of eight participants.

What people are saying
" The trainer's passion, knowledge and teaching methods have really inspired me to develop my camera skills a lot further than I had originally thought I would do.""Last week was fantastic. I found the classes exciting, informative and exhausting and came away feeling I had a real grasp of the basic skills necessary to make a film. No doubt I'll run into all manner of obstacles and problems in the West Bank, but the emphasis you placed on improvisation and thinking on your feet will go some way to solving these. Thanks for being so patient, forbearing and enthusiastic."
"This course was exactly what I needed; already being a confirmed journalist, but moving to video, with the aim of making short TV pieces on my own. It improved the skills I had in shooting, and allowed me to edit news pieces alone, ready for broadcast."
"The course was great. Its strength was that it focused on practical information and it was delivered by professionals not professors."
"I'd recommend the Solo Video Journalism course for people with only a little experience in video who want to make current affairs programmes. It is also great if you have no experience in Final Cut Pro."
"The staff and the instructors were very friendly. The instructors not only teach you the technical stuff but provide insights on how they have made videos in real life, on the field."
"Anyone interested in video journalism or advancing their knowledge of video or photography - this is the course for you."
